What is a good weight loss diet for vegetarians?

My husband and I are both vegetarians (well I eat seafood, but he does not). We both need to lose at least 40 pounds. What is a good diet program that would work with what we eat. I know a lot of people that lost weight with Atkins & South Beach, but those diets don't really fit in to a vegetarian lifestyle. I am not looking for a quick fix, but something that we will be able to stick with for awhile. I know that part of our problem is that we eat a lot of carbs. We practically live on pasta. Its hard because we work different schedules so neither one of us really cooks a meal, but rather grabs something to eat. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Okay, I understand exercise. Thats a given. That isn't what I was asking. What other meals are good for vegetarians that don't include so many carbs?

there may be a diet out there tailor-made for vegetarians, but the easiest one you can do is to continue to eat what you currently eat….the key being portion control…….gonna be hard at first, but it will work….keeping in mind a few simple rules….no meals after 8pm….a piece of fresh fruit ok…..keep a food diary for a week, look at what you eat, then sit down and analyze the amount of calories you consume….you will start to lose weight buy decreasing your weekly caloric intake by 500 calories….try to make your calories count more….eating foods higher in protein and more fiber and complex carbs….e.g. brown rice instead of white rice….a lot of restaurants are nowadays conscious of the need to reduce carb intake and offer veggies instead of starches…seek them out. good luck…and, it really does work….remember, you did not put 40lbs on in a week, you're not going to take it off in one either
